It's noted that agriculture is facing a crisis situation, thanks to the appreciative media coverage. Farmer suicides, cancer stricken Punjab, slow infusion of genetically modified seeds by multinationals are only a few examples among the multifarious poignant farmers stories across India. Many associate the problems to poor government policies, climate change and drought conditions as being the major nudges with the agricultural scenario in India. Probing deeper into the issues it becomes evident that this industry is hit with the short term benefits of chemical farming with backlashes on soil, environment and health, making it an unfeasible option for long term inclusive and sustainable agricultural and rural development. The problems like farmers dying of cancer and suicides cannot end by giving more subsidies on pesticides and fertilizers to the farmers. Nor is the compensation to the suicide farmers' families an ultimate solution. The root of the problem lies in the agricultural practices. It lies in HOW we do the farming.
And this is exactly what we at Jagriti Agro Tech are trying to change. Convert farmers to do organic farming! Sustainable, ecofriendly and an ultimate economic solution!
